Foldable play pen
Playpens are space for safely taking care of young babies and there are lots of different designs of playpens available in the market. Playpens were originally made of wood and were unfoldable. Most non-foldable playpens are bulky and thus occupy relatively large storage spaces and are therefore hardly appreciated and liked by city-dwellers. Foldable playpens were later developed because they could be folded up to minimize the space for storage or other purposes. The conventional playpens have a non-foldaway structure and thus occupying a great space when not in use. Rigid playpen structures are strong, however, they occupy large space when they are not in use, as they are not foldable. There are some playpens with foldable structures. A foldaway playpen frame structure was developed to overcome the space problem. Such a foldaway playpen structure provides a saving in storage space when the playpen is not in use. A foldable play pen enables a baby or toddler to play within a controlled and protected space without requiring continual attention by a responsible adult. Such play pens can be folded into a small space for easy storage and transport and are therefore convenient items for use in high mobility situations.
Foldable playpens generally occupy smaller storage spaces and are therefore preferred by the city-dwellers. There have been various foldable playpens including foldable rail assemblies. Generally, a plurality of joints and couplers are employed to interconnect the adjoining ends of the frame sections which, in turn, confine looped frames for forming a playpen. Locking devices are employed to prevent folding of the adjoining frame sections. A conventional foldable playpen typically comprises a foldable base having a center joint and several linking rods which are each pivotally connected at an end thereof with the center joint and jointed at an opposite end thereof to one of the respective corners of the foldable base. To lock the rails in an extended position, a spring-biased latch is insertable through an aperture defined in each of the rails and one of two apertures defined in the joint. A conventional foldable playpen structure has an x-shaped base which consists of an X-shaped joint/foot element and four bars. The joint/foot element has a foot which supports a floor and a joint to which the four bars are pivotally linked.
