Frame backpack carriers, hip carriers, slings, mei tais and a variety of other soft carriers are used for older children. Perhaps the most prevalent type of carrier is the so-called backpack type which supports the infant from the shoulders of the wearer and positions the infant on the back of the wearer, much like a conventional backpack.
