Baby bed
A baby bed (commonly referred to as a cot and a crib, cradle or stock) is a small bed specifically for infants, generally up to 3 years old. It is well known that newborn human infants require a great deal of sleep. The most common sleeping place for newborns and small infants during the first few months of life is in a bassinet. Then, as the infant grows, it eventually becomes too large for the bassinet and is typically moved to a crib. Many types of baby bed or crib have been provided with rockers supporting the bed or crib, instead of legs, for providing a convenient means for a person to rock the bed or crib to sooth and putting to sleep a baby or infant laying in the bed or crib.
In general, beds include a great variety of ones from baby beds for infants to beds for adults. The baby beds include for example, such a one that the bed itself swings, and another for employing the interior of the bed as a playpen. On the other hand, beds for adults include for example, those that are employed as a chair in the daytime and employed as a bed in the nighttime. There is also such a one that reclining mechanisms are provided on both end portions of the bed. A baby bed is generally configured to support a floor board by four bents wherein lateral bars are installed between adjacent bents at the lower end part and middle thereof to structure a framework and the flat floor board is hung on the middle lateral bars provided midway. Fixed fences are provided at the right and left sides over the floor board, and upper lateral bars are suspended on the upper end of the front and rear bents, and many crosspieces are arranged in a column between the upper lateral bars and middle lateral bars. Baby cots are typically rectangular in shape and have a bottom wall, four side walls and an open top. A soft mattress is placed in the cot and is supported by the bottom wall. One side wall of the cot can drop down to provide easier access to and from the cot. The side walls are not solid and are typically formed of an array of vertical rails or palings to provide air flow and allow the baby to be seen through the side walls of the cot. The spacing between the side wall rails is such to prevent a baby from pushing through the rails. A popular form of convertible infant seat and bed includes a molded plastic frame in a generally rectangluar form, with low side walls extending from one end and both sides to form an upwardly opening coffer. An adjustable support leg extends from the bottom of the frame to support the frame on a level surface at various angles from substantially upright to fully reclined.
In recent years there have been developed various types of baby beds. One type of prior art baby bed cannot be folded and hence occupies a good deal of useless space when not in use. Storing such a bed in a limited space is also not possible. Accordingly, a baby bed of the type which can be folded into a compact shape when not in use is gaining in popularity, and a variety of foldable infant bed assemblies have been sold on the market. In one type of folding baby bed structure, a plurality of folding dismantling members are disposed on the four sides of the frames of the baby bed. When the pushing buttons of the folding dismantling members are pressed, the engaging elements of the folding dismantling members are retreating into the folding dismantling members so that the frames can be folded and dismantled. A connection head for pivotably connecting to the frames is disposed at the bottom of the infant bed. A foldable bed base comprises a connecting rod combination, supporting members and movable members as the main parts. The connecting rod combination consists of straight rods and bent rods. The straight rods are respectively pivoted to the bent rods. The rods and each has an elongated hole at inner ends thereof. A foldable mesh bed for baby includes a frame, and four supporting feet. The frame includes four upright rod parts, and four horizontal rod parts. Each supporting foot has a holding room, and a holding space, and is connected to one of the upright rod parts with a lower end of the upright rod part being inserted in the holding room; a connecting element is passed through both the supporting foot and the upright rod part. The horizontal rod parts are respectively passed into the holding spaces of the supporting feet at outward ends thereof, and they are respectively pivoted to the supporting feet by means of pivotal elements.
Many of today’s parents are particularly concerned about every aspect of their baby’s well being, from safety and nutrition to physical fitness, and many such parents are looking for baby products that are safe, convenient, practical and beautifully designed, and which give parents the peace of mind they are demanding. For safety purpose and to facilitate handling of a baby, it is normal to provide a baby’s crib with at least one movable side. Generally, such baby cribs have a mechanism enabling to lock the movable side in upward position and this lock should not be easily disengaged to protect the safety of the baby as well as that of the person minding the baby. It is known to provide cot bumpers which are usually placed around the periphery of the mattress and can be loosely tied onto the side wall rails and which provide a cushioning against the baby striking themselves on the hard rails when sleeping. The quality of a collapsible baby playing bed depends upon the materials used for forming the bed frame, the collapsible structure of the upper and lower frames, and the stability and safety of the whole frame after it is spread out.
